working, rolling, opening doors

Our family

Hello everyone! Here's the latest update from the Hansen household.

Alan: He is still working like an animal at Texas Roadhouse, putting in over 80 hours a week! We miss him tons at home and hope the hours will lessen soon so he isn't so worn out. What a blessing he is to our family, though! We love him so much!

Allison: I am loving the summer and not wanting the cold to leave! This is the first time I can ever remember that I have not wanted Fall to come at all and have not listened to Christmas music in July. I think having kids and enjoying playing outside so much is convincing me that I really love the warm weather. Maybe, though, we'll play in the snow more this year and have fun with that, too. I just love being able to slip on the flip-flops and relax on the grass, chatting with the neighbors while our kids play. You just can't do that when it's cold! Oh well, probably one more month of warm weather, at least!

Benjamin: He has learned how to open his bedroom door all by himself. I know kids often learn how to open doors much earlier than this, but we have totally avoided teaching him. It's just been easier knowing he can't get into things...but that's over. It's fun to see how proud he is when he does it! Of course, he still loves cars and trains and anything with wheels. We have also started "checking out" books from Grandma Lord's "library". When we bring new books home, Benjamin starts dancing and saying, "I love books! I love books!" So fun.

Parley: Our little guy has finally learned how to roll over, and has reached 16 lbs! He's a big, happy baby. Even though he's only four months old, he even gets loopy when he's sleepy. We can talk to him and make him laugh, talk, and smile if we know he is almost ready for bed. We are so grateful for his contented, happy little personality!

Well, that's a quick overview of how we're all doin'. We are getting very excited for Utah football to start next week! It'll be interesting going to games with both boys, but we have fun doing it, and Benjamin is excited, too. Here are a few pictures of us, well, mostly the kids because let's face it, they're the most fun to see anyway.

Lucky Girl

So, it's been almost seven weeks since our little Parley was born! Wow, does time fly! He is a wonderful baby--very chill and mellow overall. Isn't he cute?! We love him so much. Benjamin loves him, too, and gives him lots of kisses.

Here is a picture of our adorable Benjamin, happy as can be at his first baseball game of the summer!
Benjamin had a birthday in May. He turned two years old! He loves Cars, so we did a McQueen birthday cake for him. He had a ton of fun at his party with most of his cousins and aunts and uncles there to celebrate!

I feel like I am just the luckiest girl in the world to live with three wonderful guys!
All in all, life is good for us right now. Having two kids is a bit more challenging, but they are both so fun and worth it!

Welcome

PARLEY TRENT HANSEN
We want to welcome Parley Trent Hansen, who joined our family April 19, 2009, at 9:24 PM. Parley weighed in at 9 lbs and 22 inches. Allison did a great job and accomplished her goal of having a VBAC.

Benjamin was happy to welcome his new brother into the family as well. We are happy that everyone is healthy and happy. We just got home and are glad to be together as a family.

Still waiting...

So we still do not have a new baby. Allison has been way more anxious to just have the baby this pregnancy, and we are totally ready for him to get here! Two weeks ago we found out he was breech and we were going to have to do an external version (where the doctor attempts to turn the baby to the correct, head-down position). Thankfully, after doing all the things at home we could (including playing Bach on our headphones on Allison's belly every night), he flipped on his own! Now we are just waiting and waiting for him to decide to come out. In the meantime, Benjamin and Allison have been hanging out at Grandma and Grandpa Hansen's a ton (because their home is near the hospital and Alan's work), and Benjamin is totally loving it! At home he always says "Bye!" to Allison and says he's going to Grandpa's. Anyway, hopefully this baby will come really soon!

The other good news we have is that Alan started a new job! He is now working for Texas Roadhouse and is very excited about it. Currently he is enduring training, but the new store he'll be at permanently will open near our home in July. We are excited for that because right now it's almost a 2 hour daily commute for him to the training store! We are so grateful for this new job opportunity for him! The Lord has truly blessed him and our family in so many ways.

Finally...

I know, I know. It's been forever since we've posted. Here goes....

Here is a picture of our awesome little guy! No, Amber, he's not almost five! But, he is getting more and more "independent" as he gets closer to two. We love him so much! And for those of you who don't know, I am pregnant with our next little boy, due in about four weeks. (Yes! Almost done!) I'll get a belly picture on soon--I am huge, but luckily Gary (dad-in-law) hasn't told me I'm "larger than life" yet. ;) We are so excited to have another adorable boy in our home. Benjamin is always saying, "Baby. Out!" When I ask when the baby will come out, he says, "Soon." Although we're trying to prep him as much as possible, we know it will still be, most likely, a kind of tough transition at first. Benjamin and I are so used to spending most of every day together...oh well. We'll make the transition and be an ever-so-slightly larger, but very much happier, family!

All in all, the Lord is blessing our little family immensely. We love each other, we're happy, we have the gospel, and we are taken care of. There is also another good change coming soon other than a new baby, but that will have to wait till the next post...thanks for reading!

After a great win by the UTES we figured it would be a good thing to share the reaction of one world leader. We had a good Laugh and hope you will as well.
Go UTES!!

Amber this is for you.

So it has been a long time since we last posted, but for everyone but Amber it is better late than never right? We love you Amber.
Our summer/fall has been very eventful and we have been blessed in many ways. We want to thank Tiff and Jeff for their generosity as they let us live in their basement while we saved for a down payment. We moved into our own house and are trying to make it our home.
Benjamin is learning and growing so fast. We have gone to many football games and baseball games and he is already showing his love for sports. (As if he had a choice with a Dad like Alan!)
For Halloween he even dressed up as a golfer. Baby Tiger!
We watched Peanut; Tiff and Jeff's dog for a couple of months and Benjamin loved watching her and copying her every move. I think he drove her crazy a lot of the time.

We want to give a shout out to the strongest boy that we know. Trent DuVal our nephew passed away Tuesday, November 4th, 2008. Trent fought Leukemia valiantly for 16 months and never gave up but was called to serve in a different capacity. Trent was an example to each of us and we love him dearly. Trent we will miss you!!
